loyal readers of this blog know i'm a fan of fine beer, and as it turns out i've been busy working on a homebrew project with two of my good friends. last night we bottled our first batch which means it should be ready to drink on valentines day. the homebrewing process is not for the impatient - our stout brewed with cocoa and strawberries will end up taking about 5 weeks from start to finish, but we think we're going to end up with one fantastic beverage.
in this picture ryan is filling the bottles and matt is getting ready to cap them. they make a pretty great team.
any suggestions for our next batch?
Oohh that sounds yummy...
ReplyDeleteHow about coffee and peach?
I made home brew many years ago. Mine had the distinct taste of laundry tub.
ReplyDeleteKathryn, coffee and peach... interesting. We've been thinking about a Belgian Ale - maybe peaches would go well.
ReplyDeleteKen, that is too funny.
I'm a big fan of Belgian lambics... Also cherry or mango....
ReplyDeleteI think you've found the love of your life - along with the wife. In what order...only you know.
ReplyDeletemy wife ranks above all.
ReplyDeletebut beer, baseball, and theology are a close second.
I don't know about this venture. Looks to me like your mixing a bunch of differing brands together and pouring them back into the emptied bottles. Oh yes, and you look guilty doing it..
ReplyDeleteThat would be much easier...
ReplyDeleteMaybe we should think about that for next time.
But no, I can assure you it was brewed on our kitchen stove with the finest ingredients, and fermented on the premises.
Ryan has a suspicious look about him. Like you're making bombs or something.
ReplyDelete[Disclaimer for government googlers: They are all pacifists and are not actually making bombs.]
bw, in our building, next to my office used to be an attorney who used part of it for his rock band practice. When he wasn't practicing law, or band, he was into brewing his own brew.
ReplyDeleteOh Pat, you're going to get us in big trouble.
ReplyDeleteCafe, that sounds pretty cool!
I don't know about the second batch, but I know who should sample your first.
ReplyDeleteI'm not convinced.
