russell martin, los angeles catcher

russell martin - fellow canadian - is by default, my favorite dodger. i started liking him well before we moved to la county and i began to adopt the dodgers as my national league team - simply because he plays for team canada. now i get to watch him up close - that is, whenever i go to dodger games.

the dodgers are right in the thick of a pennant race. they lead their division by a slim 3 games over the persistent colorado rockies. i'm hopeful that everything clicks at the right time this year and they bring the world series to los angeles. only time will tell!

Gotta like Russell Martin, no matter where you hail from. Whereas, save the Ron Cey days, the Dodgers are always looking for a third baseman, they have a long history of great catchers who are fan favorites. Martin is making his mark in a fine tradition. I like that he (not some assistant) is carrying the tools of his trade with him. And I like that you were there early for batting practice to get the shot (and probably join the scramble for foul balls).

BW, do the Angles have a fellow comedian on its team you follow?

All great points Michael.

Cafe - who are the Angles? and why do you think I'm a comedian? If by chance you meant the Angels (who I have no interest in having already devoted myself to one American League team - the Blue Jays), they probably have several comedians, but alas have zero Canadians.

if gagne was still on the team, deciding your favorite might be a bit more difficult. if rm keeps hitting 3 run homeruns, he will be my fave too.

Ya, what happened to Gagne? He was so amazing there a few years back.
