a dark alleyway

i don't often think about old town pasadena as a dark place, but this image turned out almost frighteningly bleak.  the wet pavement, the dim lighting, and even the old red brick exterior made this image appear to be from some other town entirely.

That IS bleak. I can almost hear the neon sign buzzing and the lone melancholy saxophone. Great picture!

Oh, I disagree on the "frightenly bleak" assessment! L.A. has a proud history of crime fiction and film, and this picture really evokes that for me. Raymond Chandler would love this. The "Coffee" sign is a reminder that this is, however, no longer the days of hard-drinking film-noir gumshoes; the biggest threat here is a caffeine headache. Great picture!

ha ha - I guess I don't think of LA's gritty history that much in revitalized Old Town Pasadena,...

But great point!

I saw this picture and I was like: 'This fits perfectly to one of my stories.' So now when I re-read what I have written I see this picture. :)
