last saturday a group of youth and adults from
our church took a hike at eaton canyon - all the way back to the picturesque waterfall. this was especially monumental because after more than three years in pasadena i had never been back to this waterfall.
i'll show you a few more pictures from our hike over the next few days.

Ben, many people have lived here a LOT longer than that and never made the trek. It's such a nice hike - more of a "rugged walk" actually and so peaceful. I have not done it in too long.
Agreed - it is a very pleasant walk. There are a few points where you have to trek over some boulders or cross a tiny stream, but for the most part it is very manageable.
Don't tell me there were no gang members with pit bulls, graffiti spraycans and beer when you were there? I used to go regularly, but now there's no knowing what will meet you at the waterfall.
Plenty of dogs, but no pit bulls or gang members (that I could tell). There was a bit of graffiti (sad), but no spray cans. I didn't see any alcohol consumption, but a guy smoking in the canyon did bother me. The area was packed with plenty of people, and the crowds were actually my biggest frustration. I wonder if a weekday morning changes that?
I would hope that the waterfall would always be as beautiful as it appears in your photo, not ruined by too many self-centered people.
Ben, love that place and the shot. It looks so refreshing.
A little too refreshing - even for my Canadian blood. It was not very warm in the shadows of the canyon, and the water was not that warm on that day.
How long does it take to get there from the parking lot, Ben?
Hmm - I think the hike took about a little over an hour? But that was with a baby in a carrier, a pregnant woman, and a group with ages from 5th grade and up.
