skywatch friday brilliance

i'm really proud of this one.  vibrant sky, iconic city hall, even a few other buildings on the horizon with the mountains behind them.

more skywatch friday can be found as usual, right here.

snow peaks and flintridge sacred heart academy

several area bloggers are showcasing our snow-peaked mountains after last week's incredible rainstorm. i'll keep updating them as they appear, but for now, check out brian & kelly, palos verdes daily photo x2, glimpses of south pasadena, altadena hiker, and east of allen.

these three images are of sacred heart - an area private school in the foothills around the rose bowl - with our beautiful mountains posing as a decorated backdrop.

eight hundred and one

while uploading today's image i noticed that i have just passed 800 blog entries. i know as well as anyone that i've been working at this blog for over two years, but that number makes that commitment to posting seem even larger. i say this a lot, but i never expected to keep this thing going for as long as i have. it is all thanks to faithful readers and commenters. thank you everyone!

by the way, in most of the world, today is known not as veterans day, but remembrance day. i prefer this term because it reminds me that to remember is to work for peace, with the hope that we will one day live in a world where war does not exist.

i hope and pray that everyone has a peaceful remembrance day.

reintroducing the pasadena sky

shanna's blog has inspired me to get my camera pointed up. over the next few days i'll showcase a few of my favorites from the past few days where clouds have been spotted in the pasadena sky.

fluffy clouds and palms

i took this one earlier this summer. it turned out really well and i was surprised to see that i hadn't posted it yet.

more skywatch friday can be found here.

the station fire seems to be more contained every day. being on the road, i've gotten a little behind in updating my links page, but you can still read about it right here.

mountain range cloud cover

check out the image in front of me on my way to the farmers market yesterday. it was just begging to be photographed. we don't get much cloud cover in pasadena, so seeing these fluffy clouds resting on top of the san gabriel mountains was pretty spectacular.

getting back to my roots

this blog began in part because of my fascination of pictures of sky. so here's a throwback for you. this could be a cloud found almost anywhere, but i assure you it was taken in pasadena's sky!

the big sky of pasadena

more clouds from the other day when their was actually some moisture in the air. i don't think i ever expected to miss clouds. i now cherish them much more than i ever had before.

and i don't think i'm the only one looking at the sky these days.

my sister also got in on the cloud postings today!

enough to take my breath away

my favorite image from the bike trip. this one is from our campsite at janes island state park on the eastern shore of the chesapeake. aside from a little cropping, this hasn't really had any editing done to it.

pasadena sky (with clouds)

much like my fellow pasadena blogger, I also noticed the sky on sunday. clouds like this are a rarity, and the pictures that resulted were really inspiring.
