november theme day: public transportation

 los angeles county isn't exactly known for its public transportation system, but it is getting better.  pasadena is linked in by several bus lines and the metro gold line, pictured above, a light rail system that runs to union station.  plans are in motion to run the line further east - eventually all the way to azusa.

as usual, on the first of the month, hundreds of bloggers from the city daily photo world are working with this theme.

as we were walking through the area, i caught the metro dropping off passengers.  what would it be like to live above a train station?

one of the stops in pasadena along the metro gold line. this station is close enough to be accessible from old town pasadena and provides access to the east, and west to downtown los angeles.

an off-balance shot of pasadena's lake avenue metro station make-over. this station is apparently utilizing solar panels in the finished product, as i recently learned from brigham yen's blog.

thanks to laurie over at the wonderful glimpses of south pasadena blog for her suggestion that i head out and snap some pictures of our picturesque metro stations.

waiting for the flyaway bus

many people don't realize how easy it is to take public transportation from pasadena to los angeles international airport. simply take the gold line south to union station and then get on the flyaway bus which will take you directly to your terminal. $5.25 for the whole trip is a steal based on the price of gas and airport parking.

the end of the line

the gold line that is. the final stop on the metro is supposed to eventually head on to the east, but for now it ends at sierra madre villa, right in the middle of the 210 highway.

if you've ever taken the gold line from pasadena to la, you've probably seen this sweet red brick building. it has some tasty treats inside too, stop by sometime.
