after almost four years in this area, i finally made a visit to the la zoo. this visit was particularily special because my daughter (let's call her "A" - she's not a baby anymore) was along for the ride. A loved watching the various animals and her parents loved watching her expressions even more.

And if you go visit the elephants right before closing time (maybe 20 minutes before or so) the zookeepers will feed them [the elephants] treats and the elephants will do some nifty tricks.
I have also heard that they feed the lions around the same time - but we've never seen it as the kids always want to see the elephants.
