skywatching at doheny state beach

our first night of the bike trip was at doheny state beach.  we survived a night of more rainfall, and woke up to this beautiful sky on the beach.

camping in february

i mentioned on sunday that we were out of town for the weekend - a camping retreat with our church family at leo carrillo state park.  it was a fabulous way to relax with our friends, and introduce our baby girl to the whole camping experience (see her little face in the tent?).

and i gotta admit - there is something special about being able to camp in the warmth and sunshine in february!

this shot is from my recent camping trip. an empty sky can also be a beautiful sky... although, the moon is hanging there, so i guess it isn't quite empty.

camping at lightning point

on saturday i went up into the san gabriel mountains for a midsommar celebration. we had a great time celebrating the summer sun and what is to come. i'll post a few more pictures from our time.
