the 2010 arroyo verde awards

last night i had the pleasure of attending an event organized by the arroyo seco foundation at the kidspace museum to celebrate people and organizations who helped to preserve and promote the beautiful arroyo seco area.  i attended not simply as an onlooker, but because those of us who wrote an article for hahamongna blog day (you can find mine here) were selected by the organization as the recipient of the "best advocacy" award for this year.

bloggers in attendance recieved a lovely certificate award to take home, as well as a team trophy of this light-up crystal frog thingy (see below).  its fate has yet to be determined...

Yay! Great pics, Ben. We must come up with a plan for our frog thingy so everyone can enjoy it. Right now it's on my desk where only I can see it.

But I know that's not fair. (evil laugh.)

did anyone get a group photo?

Maybe the frog should be passed around for each blogger to take a picture of it in a different Arroyo Seco location.

I really like Ben's idea.

You guys are so great. I signed the petition but somehow missed the entire blog day event. This is why I bought a paper calender for 2010.

Such a great cause and all of you are such great voices for it. Yay!

We missed you, Laurie and Karin. I wonder how we can get some of those group photos? The idea of snapping that frog thingy in various locations in Hahamongna is brilliant, Ben!

Glad you all like the idea! I think it could be fun.

I love the idea. Maybe each person could have it for a week and then pass it on to the next person (and post their photo, of course). When it's all done we might want to figure out a public place where the frog thingy could live so everyone could visit it when they want to and the glory of the Hahamongna Bloggers SHALL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN! ahem.

I'm thinking maybe we could all post our pictures on the same day and have it be another mass shout-out for haha.

That's what I'm thinking. We'd better get started, we might be needed soon. I'll go, then hand off the frog. I'd better get an email out.

Oh geez. the holidays.

Yep, going to be a tricky time to coordinate everything - maybe we should aim for early 2011.

I had that frog thingy on the cover of Pasadena In Focus years ago when I did a cover article about the Arroyo Seco.

Congratulations, everybody!

Laurie, so did I. So I blogged on Hahamongna a day later. We need to keep up the pressure on all preservation issues. Don't forget about the "Arcadia woodlands" which are being threatened by the county flood control district.

I love that top photo, Ben. And it was great to meet you in person. I'm all for the frog photo project and another haha blogging event. We definitely need to keep fighting the good fight.

Ditto that! Good to meet so many other familiar bloggers in person.

I have a light up crystal thing that has a picture of a little boy and a little girl kissing. A very romantic gift for my girl. Well, I dropped my bag with the crystal light up thing in it and it cracked. I was hoping any of you can tell me the name of it. Text me the name please or ask for a picture of what I'm talking about. 209-312-0498. I trust any of you judging the mature comments from everyone and I will be to lazy to come back to this site and read the comments so yeah.

I have the crystal, Elijah. I'll take a look in the morning and let you know what I find out.

Well hey, pretty cool that this blog is still being useful for someone!

Hi Ben! Yes indeed, you still come up in my searches, and obviously Elijah's as well.

Elijah, I have the crystal and its stand. The little plastic stand lights up, shining through the crystal. I took the batteries out and looked for a manufacturer's mark. All I see is "XING XING, made in China."

I hope that's useful. Good luck!
