clipper nation

during our time in los angeles county, i've been to many baseball games, a few hockey games, and even a college football game.  so i guess it was time to get to a basketball game.

one of my friends is a big sixers fan, and since they were in town playing the clippers, we decided to go.  and it was pretty fun!  i imagine it takes a special kind of person to be a clippers fan - even with rookie sensation blake griffin (who is at the free-throw line in the photo above).

That's a grat shot of the Staple Center bowl. It's hard to imagine the arena being that full without Blake Griffin.

Totally agree - we were really surprised at how full it was.

The only friends of mine who are Clippers fans are people who grew up elsewhere hating the Lakers and have chosen to root for the Clippers now that they live in L.A.

I'm 32; the Lakers have won TEN championships in my lifetime. It was impossible for me not to grow up a Lakers fan.

As a Laker fan, do you feel sorry for the Clippers?

I don't know if "sorry" is the right word. They have perhaps the most incompetent owner in sports, a possibly racist, definitely sexual-harassing, vile human being who heckles his own players.

I have never met a Clippers fan who did not hate the Lakers; it seems to me that is the ONLY reason people become Clippers fans. And that's fine, I certainly understand that. (I certainly am not a fan of Phil Jackson or Kobe and I understand why people loathe them.)

But it makes it hard for me to feel "sorry" for the Clippers. They aren't unlikable players, and they aren't particularly likable. They are just... irrelevant. And they always will be as long as Sterling owns them.

I think it's because Justin likes the Laker food better than what's at Clipper games.

Honestly I don't remember the last time I ate at Staples Center. A sandwich, cole slaw and beer at Philippe's before the game will set you back less than a single beer at the game.
