Unless I owned a nuclear reactor, I haven't had any need for ready mixed concrete lately. But George Throop, recently deceased, and his family have a distinguished history in Pasadena going back at least decades.
The latest mark by the Throop family came from his son - Jeff - the recent President of the 2011 Tournament of Roses Association.

Throops were a founding family in pasadena. I believe they helped found the Universalist church (do I have that name right?).
