the sky is big in texas

a hearty congratulations to the texas rangers - american league champions after knocking out the defending world series champion yankees last night.  it has been a long time coming for the rangers - the franchise has existed since '61 (formed as the washington senators), and it took until this year for them to win their first playoff series.

now they are going to the world series.

i took this photo of the ballpark in arlington on our trip across the country as we moved from the east coast to our home here in pasadena.  the rangers ballpark has some unique features, and the sky looked looming on that particular night (we ended up having a bit of a rain delay in the game).

another one from joshua tree national park

i can't get over the physical beauty of this park. it was very different than sequoia national park or kings canyon, but it was still pretty fantastic. point the camera, take a picture, end up with an amazing shot. i hope you don't mind this little detour from pasadena.

bullet the blue sky

the day after thanksgiving we took a trip to joshua tree national park. it was my first visit to god's country, and we had a great time bouldering and hiking around where the streets have no name. i also made sure to take the time to sit back and listen to u2's the joshua tree album on my ipod.

for those southern california bloggers looking for a place to take some pictures, head to joshua tree and just point and shoot. it's almost impossible to take a bad shot here.
