golden state

i don't mind the sunspots on this photo because they usually appear when you take a picture straight at the sun. the reason i wanted to take this was because of how illuminated the ocean was. see that golden sliver on the horizon? the day was clear enough, and we were up high enough, to see the pacific ocean, and it was shining like gold.

highlights from our northwest trip: stanley park, vancouver, bc

heading north for today's skywatch friday photo. vancouver was lovely - in spite of less than lovely weather.

more of the jacaranda

it's true - petrea hit the nail on the head. we can't stop taking pictures of pasadena's purple trees. it seems like they are everywhere now. for how long I cannot say, but as long as they are around, i assume they will continue to creep into my photos.

this image is of south lake avenue. lake has quite a lot going on, yet it always seems to end up second fiddle to colorado blvd and old town pasadena. too bad really, because it's really a pretty cool street!

by the way, today is the start of the pasadena chalk festival. i'm really sad to be out of town for it. if you get a chance, swing by to check it out and tell me what i'm missing.

the rugged beauty of king's canyon

this past weekend we took a trip up north to king's canyon and sequoia national parks. both completely surpassed my expectations. if you want to see a bit more, i set up a gallery of our trip right here.

i live here?

every once in a while i need to take a step back and remind myself of the beauty found where i live. i'm sure we all need to do this whether we live in the usa, albania, or zimbabwe. having a photo blog forces you to look at your environment, hopefully bringing you to the realization that the world is an amazing place.

oh, this is a shot of our street. this is where i live and sometimes i can't believe that's true.

losing california

heading home to slower internet, and the posibility of long breaks between postings.

southern california does have snow

sorry for the delay -- for those of you who are readers of this blog, you'll note that this post was created a day late. a trip to vegas and a hotel without free wireless was the cause of the first day of nothing on this blog. due to the upcoming trip to ontario, we may have a few more days of nothing. however, much like today's post, the hope is that a picture will still be posted for every day of the month.
