fuller just opened their new library. when the entire project is completed it is supposed to be one of the most renowned theological libraries in the world. it is a beautiful building - lots of open space, a lovely open air terrace on top of the structure, big glass windows - basically a total shift from the old dreary library.

Nice shot, Ben. The only problem with the library is its dumb policy where you have to request your books and wait an hour for them to be fetched for you by library staff. No browsing the stacks for 3 months until the old library is finished.
It's hard to miss it, Cafe. It's right next to the old library. It's the big fancy building that sticks out pretty dramatically.
If you are driving along Union, you'll pass it right before you get to Los Robles.
There is a cafe on campus - Coffee by the Books is located right behind the bookstore. It's a short walk from the library.
I like the idea of a roof terrace.

It's on the other side of campus, however. Don't coffee & libraries need to be closer, like hand to hand.
My perspective on the phrase "the other side of campus" is dramatically different now that I'm at UCLA. The walk from CBTB to the new library is really not a problem :)
My understanding is that the original plans called for a cafe, but it was cut due to the economic downturn and fewer resources.
Pat McCullough, I'm recalling an uphill walk across the UCLA campus and thinking "yeah, I can manage the hike across Fuller to the coffee shop..."

my mum used to work in this library while we lived at fuller from 1974-1978. i'm sure that's how i came to love books and the smell of libraries! the word 'carroll" (i never knew how to say it, i was a kid!) was one of the most studious and respected words i ever knew... thanks for the beautiful reminders of my childhood. i hope to bring my own family in 2009 for my first visit back to this wonderful place! roz, australia
