seriously?
the other day i walked in to this group of shops along lake avenue and discovered this indoor fountain and spiral staircase.
i never would have guess it was here. it just goes to show that there are still many things about pasadena that i have yet to discover...

Where is this??
exactly, right???? I was dumbfounded.
It is a space called the Colonade - just south of Del Mar on the east side of Lake.
That indoor area, as well as the open-air plaza (the Burlington Arcade) a few doors down, are kind of hidden treasures. They don't really have stores that I frequent but I love strolling through them. (My better half loves Anthropologie and any time we go there I park in the back and walk through the Colonnade on our way in and the Arcade on our way out.) I have a photo of the red phone booth in the Arcade that I love.
Ah, yes... I know where that is now. Nice shot!
My father's book store (Dirk Cable Bookseller) was a bit of a landmark in the Colonade for many years (1980-2000), so I'm actually very familiar with that rather kitchy staircase and fountain.
I remember Dirk's bookstore. I love the Arcade and the Colonnade -- but to be honest, I've never ever walked up those stairs. What's up there, I wonder?
Good question, Kat - its probably either really boring, or the subject for a future photo!
I went up the stairs once, because I love spiral staircases for some reason and just had to see. Sadly it was pretty boring up there--just some anonymous offices, no storefronts.
We get my kids hair cut at the place next door to this. Crazy that it's there.
It is always used to be great idea to decorate you luxury home with indoor fountains. But is always advisable to choose genuine suppliers of indoor fountains.
