a'float sushi
i like sushi, but i'm also intimidated by going out to a sushi restaurant. for those native pasadenians who read this blog, do you have any suggestions or tips on the best restaurant in town? there are quite a few to choose from.
well, this place is great and pretty good prices too. Alison and I had our first date here! Also, I hear good things about Sushi Roku further down Colorado, but that's top of the line so a lot of $$. Enjoy!
For Sushi, I go to A.I. It's near the Rialto theater in South Pasadena. I'm not a great judge of Sushi, but it does seem to be popular. Spitz: Home of the Doner Kebab, located at 2506 Colorado blvd in Eagle Rock, is owned by a couple of alums out of Occidental College. It's next to the Eagle Rock Mall and offers a 10% student discount. And again, Zelos in Arcadia (beet and walnut salad). A favorite of our own Altadena food critic Jonathan Gold. The first food critic to win a Pulitzer.
Just thought I'd add 2 more: Matsuri on Green and Walnut -- Quite authentic, menu goes well beyond sushi, and they play a drum for you as you enter!
And Sushi of Naples (also on Green)... silly name, great food!
OK, one more, because I can't resist: Zono sushi on South Lake... I sat at the sushi bar and chatted with the chef. He made me a steak tartar sushi and asparagus tempura sushi!

Sweet! Thanks for the suggestions you two. Keep them coming.
I agree with Ai... It's especially good for a weekday lunch.

wow! Very cool suggestions. I've got my work cut out for me.
If I get to pick, we go to Fattys on Colorado in Eagle Rock. Small place, creative vegetarian menu in a converted auto garage.
vegetarian food at fattys. hilarious!
