"watanga ma tula pum"
when i was 10 my family spent a year in a tiny village in northern ghana doing mission work. the only phrase i remember clearly in mampruli (the local dialect) is the title of today's post. it means "the sun is very hot" - which is fitting because the sun has been very hot in pasadena lately. yesterday i went out for a bike ride at 5:30 and my laptop informed me that it was 102 degrees. the high yesterday was 108. today we're expecting a much calmer 97. at least it isn't very humid here.

I love this shot...very errie look to it.
This photo certainly captures 108 degrees. Nicely done.
abu dhabi - you're right, it is kinda eerie.
snapper - thanks for the compliment! it's warm again today, and sadly our church doesn't have AC.
Hey Ben,
I enjoyed watching the sun set on the longest day of the year at the Stough Canyon Nature Center. Fortunately for me, the uphill portion of the trail was in shade. And may I add, it was a stunning sunset. I make this journey for the winter solstice as well.
That really does look like you are about to be pulled through the wormhole. It's a fabulous, scary image.
Great shot! Saturday was incredibly hot -- even into the night. It is late Sunday afternoon now and it finally feels like it is cooling off.
Palm - that canyon looks like I need to check it out!
Babooshka - a wormhole, eh? Maybe I captured something bigger than just a palm tree!
michael - let's hope the end is in sight, at least for now. Looks like down to the 80s for this coming week.
Dream of flames indeed. A fantastic photo.
pasadena is cooling down it seems - 82 right now.
