memorial park is the home of pasadena's summer concerts under the stars. these free concerts happen from wednesday to sunday, every week during the summer from june to august. last night was out first taste, and it left us wanting to come back for more. great family fun, lots of picnics, lawn chairs, and blankets, and most importantly - great music. last night featured ricardo lemvo & the makina loca who spent the evening showing us their fantastic blend of latin and african influences.
an update from the mortimer levitt foundation: there is another levitt pavilion in macarthur park that also offers 50 concerts free of charge in an outdoor setting similar to pasadena. visit levittla.org

I didn't even know about this. I looked at the website and they even have Children's Night every Wednesday. I just love this area! Looks like last night was a lot of fun.
Agreed! We're unsure of where we'll end up after I'm done with seminary. It's going to be pretty hard to leave Pasadena.

The full schedule can be found at www.levittpavilionpasadena.org. There are also free concerts in the same location on Tuesday evenings, which you'll find at www.pasadenaseniorcenter.org (the link is at the top of the page). The Metro Gold Line's Memorial Park Station is just steps from the park, so that makes it really easy to get there and you don't have to worry about feeding meters!

Laurie - We do love it here, but we are a very long way from both of our families. We may become Pasadena lifers, but going to wait and see. Who knows where we'll end up someday - it's kind of exciting to think about blogging in a new or undiscovered part of the world!
