daisy mint - why did it take us so long to find you?

friends of ours have been raving about their experience at daisy mint, a local thai restaurant along colorado blvd. on friday we decided to go check it out, and i sure am glad that we did! the food was wonderful, the decor charming, and the bill was reasonable. their yelp page has well over 200 reviews, yet still maintains a strong 4 star rating.

pasadena has a wealth of culinary options. every now and then we stumble across one to add to our list of favorites. currently our local list of eateries include green street, the kitchen, saladang, mezbaan, brix 42, thai dishes (does that make 3 thai places on my list?) and if i'm allowed to extend to south pas., gus's barbeque.

so help me out locals, am i missing anything on this list?

I've got friends who keep telling me about Daisy Mint too, but I haven't gone. Now, I definitely must. It looks shockingly cute inside.

favorite restaurant in Pasadena (and possibly ANYWHERE): Azeen's Afghani Restaurant. 110 East Union Street (btw. Raymond & Arroyo).

Also Lovebird Cafe on Colorado (just east of Lake). Really great sandwiches and baked goods.

Ya, we've talked about that place several times, but never end up taking the plunge. Maybe its because I don't really know what to expect? I'm sure we'll make it there at some point! Thanks for the tip, Holly!

I was gonna say Azeens Afghani also.

Asians tend to be less enthusiastic about DM. And, I agree. That's not to say it's not good.

Try Cafe Verde on Green St which we walked by back in 2008. You may have even taken a pic of it!

consider taratinos & egg roll express.

Cafe - Well, I guess DM is Thai-fusion, not authentic Thai. Cafe Verde is on my list for sure.

likenarnia - A friend of mine has been raving about tarantinos pizza. I really need to check it out! Egg Roll Express... is that up on Washington?

Washington?? D only Tarantino's I no of is on Green St just west of Lake Ave.
My foodie soulmate wasn't exactly enthusiastic about it when I mentioned it to her - so I haven't been yet.

Now Cafe, please read carefully - I was asking if Egg Roll Express was on Washington, not Tarantinos.

Yes Azeens!

Also Lebanese Kitchen at the intersection of Washington & Hill and Mijares Mexican Restaurant (there are two, a large one on Pasadena and small one at Washington & Allen).

FYI, The Kitchen is on restaurant.com and you can get very good deals on gift certificates to make it quite inexpensive. They [The Kitchen] also have coupons on their website.

Daisy Mint is one of our fave's in town. I also thought quickly of Azeen's; it is well worth the experience. We also enjoyed the Tibet/Nepal House; I think it's on Union just west of Azeen's.

If you're looking for good pizza, NY style, Mama's Pizza in South Pas is where it's at (it's right on Fair Oaks).

Brian, I totally forgot about Tibet Nepal House. We really enjoyed checking that place out last year. And I totally agree with your assessment about the pizza in South Pas - although I've heard a few interesting stories about Mamma's Brick Oven Pizza. Is that the same thing as Mama's Pizza?

Gina, I'll have to check out the Lebanese Kitchen. I've been wondering about that place.

And I'm always up for online coupons! I'll have to check that out.

Yeah, Mama's Brick Oven. My bad!
