jackie robinson field at brookside park

after almost three years of living in pasadena, i finally made it to a pasadena city college baseball game at the historic ballpark by the rose bowl. while the crowd was sparse, i was totally in awe of this place - the stonework around the seating bowl, the view of the mountains, the fact that i was watching baseball in the sun, in march, for free!,... the list goes on and on.

the pcc lancers won in a blow-out, 15-13. i'll post more pictures from the game tomorrow. their next home game is thursday.

What a great location for a minor league stadium. That dream will never die.

HERE HERE! PIO - any idea if a minor league team has every been proposed to the city??

By the way, I finally ate at Purdue's, and I loved it!

Any chance there is a picture of your food coming up? Or the interior? I love the Negro League memorabilia on the walls.

Yep - I've got it lined up for Saturday.

BTW - the Portland Beavers of the Pacific Coast League, the Padres AAA team, are probably leaving Portland after this season. Their stadium is being converted to soccer-only. (PGE Park is one of my favorite stadiums; I watched a game from the Widmer beer garden, only about eight field from the field.)

So the AAA farm club of a Southern California MLB team is looking for a new location for next year. I'm just saying...

Nice boys of spring shot, BW!

(15-13 is a blow-out?
Maybe in hockey, but...)

Blow out may be a bad way to put it.

This field use to be the spring training field for the Chicago White Sox for a while in the 50's. When I played there in the '70s the dilapidated clubhouse facility was still there along with ticket booth and other "amenities".
