philippe's french dip sandwiches

a los angeles icon to say the least.

i'm ashamed to say i've never been, but someday i hope that will be remedied...

a reminder that today is the annual palm sunday peace parade.

You definitely need to try it. They aren't the best sandwiches you will ever eat, but it is a classic L.A. experience. Also, it's one of my 5 favorite posts out of the 450 or so I have done

Ya' know, I had to leave early, but from what I heard, there were about 120 people out marching for peace! I'll post some photos tomorrow.

don't feel too bad; recently phillipe's was shut down because of (wait for it)...cockroaches. that being said, phillipe's claims to be the oldest restaurant in LA (cole's also claims the same thing) and the inventor of the french dip. but cockroaches or no cockroaches, who can gripe about a place that serves silver oak by the glass.

mmm... something exciting about a grimy restaurant!
