photo request #17: memories...
at least i hope this image brings back some memories - for one reader in particular.
last week i got a special request from a reader in australia. roz wondered if the building her family lived in when her dad was a fuller student still existed, and it turns out it still stands! this is a shot of 460 ford place, complete with, as roz put it so well - "a rickety balcony on the front from where we could see the mountains".
i'm happy to pass on this image to a fellow world traveller. i'll put up a shot of the back side tomorrow. hope you like it!

wow - still there. that balcony was closed off several times for 'renovation' in the mid70s - i wonder whether the current residents still feel nervous going out there! and the slope on that floor would roll a marble from the back of the house right out onto that balcony! thank you ben, that is wonderful; just as i remember it, amazingly! now if i had rollerskates, i could skate along that footpath ('sidewalk'!) like i used to, jumping over those fallen palm branches. thanks so much! roz
There must've been a solar eclipse happening when you shot this.
I think that's now the African American Church Studies office. As far as I know, students don't live there. Plus, I think it's safe to say that building will never come down. It, like most others on Fuller's campus, is protected by the Pasadena Historical Society and maybe even the National Historical Society. God bless Pasadena architecture!
Roz, glad I could give you a glimpse!
Cafe, .... what?
Jon, thanks for the insight - I didn't realize it wasn't housing anymore.
haha, maybe cafe observer doesn't realise that i am so old (not as old as that building though!) and it is so long ago that i lived there, that the whole world existed in a sepia-tone lol
