Such a big and beautiful park. And of course it's adjacent to the farmer's market on Saturdays. Also to that big military building. I'd love to get in there and take pictures but I've never asked, have you? Maybe if there were a few of us they'd give a guided tour.

I'm not sure what building you're referring to P. I'll have to keep my eyes open the next time I'm over there.

Speaking of guided tours - when is PIO going to show us around City Hall?

At the corner of Sierra Madre Blvd. and Paloma St. (http://bit.ly/9TZ55I), there's a relatively plain building surrounded by a high, iron fence. The fence doesn't hide the building as much as it makes a statement: "this is protected space." It's either marines or army. They do recruitment and possibly training at the facility. There are military vehicles (jeeps and trucks) parked in the lot behind the building, adjacent to the high school parking lot.

Park and green space are so important. Sounds like that is a wonderful place. Somewhere you could take the whole family. I love the blue sky....just makes you feel so happy

It looks like an absolutely beautiful park! How nice that it's near the Saturday Farmers' Market--fun for the whole family.

This is a great park. I played soccer there when I was a little kid and now I hit up the farmers market at least a couple times per month. (By the way, the building Petrea is referring to is the Marine Corps Reserve Training Center.)

Ben, you're doing a marvelous job on this series. Thanks for showing off Pasadena's parks!

Victory Park was so named in honor of Americans who died in the line of duty during World War II.

The building on Paloma Street at Sierra Madre Boulevard is the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Center.

Stay tuned on the bloggers tour of Pasadena City Hall. I'll have an announcement any day now about the date. I actually have one confirmed on the reservations calendar, but I'm waiting to hear in the next couple of days whether I'll be in town or not, in which case I'll have to reschedule it. I'm reasonably confident it'll be fine.

I played many a softball game at Victory Park. We got the Marines to come over and watch us now and again---they had noticed us practicing while they did their reserve stuff & supported us...nothing like a bunch of Marines rooting on a college team to make the visiting team nervous!

Interestingly, my grandmother used to live not far from there as a child and when I was little she would take me to play at Victory Park. All comes full circle!

& Petrea--don't know if they'd do it now post 9/11), but the Marines had us over for soft drinks and pool & darts once---if you ask, they might let you in to take pics!
