third stop: norton simon museum

today's post is part of a series of images from pasadena's art walk night that happened last friday. for more details, check out the post on monday.

our last stop was the norton simon museum. a pretty fantastic museum that was open free to the public. i'd never been, although i've posted about it before. i agree with my wife that it may be the best museum in pasadena, if not all of l.a. county.

one final photo tomorrow.

Oh yes, one could happily get lost in the art there. How fun!

The Norton is under appreciated. This is the place where they hang a large red rose that you see each year on Colorado just after the Rose parade turns east from Orange Grove.

However, i would put the Huntington & de both Getty Museums on my list before de Norton.

I had an art history professor who said visiting the Norton Simon was like "visiting old friends" I agree, the first friend I visit is Van Gogh's green mother.

I'm ashamed to admit that I have yet to visit the Huntington. It needs to be on top of my list. The Getty is AWESOME, but I see that as more than just an art gallery. I love the grounds and architecture (and I highly recommend the free architecture tour!).

PA, I love that concept of visiting old friends.

It's been about 10 years since my last visit to the Norton. I think its time.

It's one of our cultural treasures that I wish more locals would visit. I'm glad it gets local attention on ArtNight.
