fuller housing

chang commons is one of the newest housing options for students at fuller. named so because of a generous grant from do-won and jin-sook chang - founders of the clothing chain, forever 21.

we don't live in chang, but i can imagine its a nice place to live. it's new and right next to fuller's classrooms. apparently housing on campus is in high demand this year - several of our graduating neighbors were asked to move out of their apartments earlier than they had hoped.

Very generous of the Changs to contribute housing to the school. They have a big store in Old Town and I've been meaning to go see if I can take photos inside.

So did your neighbors not have leases? I'm not sure I understand how that housing works.

Ya, student housing is tricky. Our leases are for half a year, and then month to month until you graduate, or lose your student status. It makes for some tricky situations if a family has to take some time off of school or something. Many people find it's less stressful to just pay a bit more and be in a normal apartment.

well, I'm on track to graduate in 2010, but we like it here and my wife just started a grad program part time - we may end up staying a little longer. We'll have to wait and see!

Pasadena loves you, Ben, so you ought to stay. I met two ladies the other day who said they'd met you. Jehovah's Witnesses giving out reading material in front of what used to be the Altadena library. Was that you they meant?

hmm... I'm sceptical, but I guess anything is possible! Great to be famous, even if it's a lie :)
