pasadena to long beach

yesterday i promised that i would fill you in on my other big weekend event. i joined two friends (tim and ryan in the top photo) on a bike ride that took us from pasadena to the san gabriel river bike trail over in duarte. from there we headed south to the end of the trail, located in seal beach. we biked over to long beach for lunch and a quick stop at a bike shop to fix a broken spoke. we turned around and headed back up the trail and back to pasadena.

the second photo today is looking back at the san gabriel mountains. about 105 miles total in our round trip ride. pretty fun and a great work out!

i just noticed that tim also blogged about this.

I enjoy your mountain photos. This one has some wonderful colors. And the river bikeway is a fun ride, but I prefer to get a ride back home from the beach!

Well for those who don't think they can ride the whole thing, it is possible to grab the metro down in Long Beach and ride it all the way back up to Pasadena.

Man - my butt is making a regular appearance in this blog of yours. perhaps I'll get my face in there one of these day :)

Beautiful. You should be proud of yourself for the ride and for the photos.

Petrea, I'm going to assume you meant that the photo was beautiful, and not Tim's rear end.

Thanks! It was fun.

Ben, if you notice a guy a few yards behind you tagging along next ride, don't worry -- it's just my husband!

Great shot, BTW.

Laurie, u need to let your man free. Free 2 ride, free 2 b, free like some of us doggies!

U may not want w let him see these pics!

Great panoramic shots, bw. A good clear day!

Oh, I just saw you went into Seal Beach! That, I know, is a great bike ride.

Laurie, I really should get in touch the next time we go out and see if your husband would be up for it.

Cafe, I appreciate your comments, but don't give Laurie a hard time!

I used to ride this trail all the time but only did the beach and back once. I didn't find the ride back as much fun as you did!

Yes, the return trip isn't quite as enjoyable. Slightly uphill. Fortunately we had the wind at our backs for portions of it. And it's not too steep at all. I don't like returning the same way I headed out, but in this case it's not bad. Lots to see along the way, and no car traffic to deal with.

Ben...thanks for alerting me to your post. I'm jealous you get to bike it!

I'm there several times a year, usually after big storms, spring bloom and whenever the corp of engineers turns on the tap and lets the river flow.

Watch for the guy bouncing around to frame the image on the side...its usually me.

I'll do that! Thanks for the heads up.
