twin cyclists

this artwork on the side of the seniors center along holly street has always caught my eye. i didn't realize that it was 3d until i went to take this picture and realized that the shelves, umbrella, hat, and several other items cast a shadow and are in fact hanging off the building. if anyone has any insight as to the artist information, please share!

for those of you looking for more from my recent ballpark tour, check out a blog entry right here.

Altadena resident Gifford Myer. Did the big ball at Art Center and the tile mural behind Ross on Lake. His ex Laurie Burgess runs the digital media department at PCC. She's great.

Steffe, it does look like Einstein! Did he ever have a twin? Or ride a bike?

Laurie, you need to get out more :) Just kidding!

Pasadena Adjacent, thanks for the heads up! Very helpful info to get. Oh, and I like your blog. Very entertaining!

How far back on my "entertaining" blog did you go? Ben, Ben, Ben, don't you know who I am? Ask Laurie, I'm not to be ignored Ben (cue in Glenn Close)

I love it! Add me to your will.

Although my new bike is going to be SAWEET! This won't be any hand me down...

Ouch. Please don't make fun of Laurie. I've never noticed this mural either.

Nice shot.

Laurie, I apologize! Or maybe I should say Petrea needs to get out more too!

You're both terrific and I bow to your photography skills AND your knowledge and eye for Pasadena.

Likewise, Ben. Hey--you're the one who spotted it!

It is indeed Albert Einstein on a bike. The photo was taken in 1933 in Santa Barbara. You can even buy a poster of it. Google "Einstein on a Bike."

I'll bet Albert Brooks knew about the photo. (10 points if you know why I mentioned Albert Brooks.)

bw, i agree with Petrea (my online conscience), we don't wanna give Laurie-the tech queen-a hard time.
I'd rather L give me a hard time (and she has) than vice-versa.

And, bw, what's the latest with you & pa?

Laurie Allee said...

Thanks for looking out for me Petrea but Ben is right ...I DO need to get out more! :-)

bw, I need to take you & Laurie to a Cafe.
I'm really worried for L, especially.

Mr Earl, I may be too young for the Brooks reference. Thanks for the insight into Einstein.

LO, what do you mean about me and pa?

Mister Earl said...

Comedian/actor/director Albert Brooks was born Albert Lawrence Einstein.

Petrea Burchard said...

Laurie, I was really defending myself because I've never seen it either!

ben wideman said...

Mister Earl, you learn something new everyday!!

Einstein spent time in Pasadena. I was told he lived in a house on Del Mar behind PCC

ben wideman said...

Now that is pretty cool!

It looks like the images of Einstein could be a stereo 3D image. Cross your eyes and focus on the "middle" Einstein on a bike.

ben wideman said...

Maaaaaybe... there is too much clutter in front of the image to get a real vivid middle Einstein.

Mister Earl said...

You know what they say it's all... nevermind... ;-)

I'm sure Einstein spent some time at Cal Tech in Pasadena.

Einstein also used to live on (i think i remember it correctly) Oakland Ave, so. of Colorado).
