outdoor music at the arboretum

on saturday we ventured down the 210 to the los angeles arboretum for a california philharmonic outdoor concert.  this particular event included a selection of john williams' fantastic movie music (including star wars, superman, and e.t.).

we had a great time listening to the sweet sounds of the orchestra, socializing with our friends, and sampling the selection of picnic food we had brought along.  the lawn at this venue is large.  we got there after many had already staked their claim to the prime seating locations, but we were still able to find enough grass space to spread out on.  we'll know better next time.

Ben, was that the orchestra with Victor Venner as the conductor? It's been a while since I've seen that one at the Arboretum.

Exactly right, Steve. That guy is a talker. He had a lengthy story for each piece of music.

I have seen the Cal Phil about a dozen times, and met Maestro Vener in one other unrelated circumstance, and I feel comfortable saying two things: 1) He is a very talented conductor, 2) Nobody thinks that more than he does
