Hey, at least you can kinda sorta see mountains in the picture. In decades past, they would have literally been invisible. Air quality has come a long way in the LA area in the past 30 years.
In the 70s, the sky above Pasadena would have been a copper-color haze and a 2nd stage smog alert. These days, we rarely hear the term.
I've heard many people say that. It would have been an interesting thing to live through - especially to see the contrast today.
I remember how gross it looked from Griffith Observatory. All you can see is a thick brown cloud hovering over the city.
